EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — It appears that more than 60 Cleveland police officers were involved in a November chase and police involved shooting.

Cleveland police officials say that 61 is the “approximate number” of officers that took part in the November 29 chase, which ended in East Cleveland.

The chase started at the Justice Center in downtown Cleveland, after a police officer said he thought someone in the suspect’s vehicle fired a shot at him.

Security video from RTA shows more than 50 cars involved in the chase at certain points.

The two suspects, Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams, died after 13 officers fired 137 shots.

The state Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is conducting a criminal investigation. It is not known when they will finish.

Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath has said his department is conducting an internal review of the matter and he hoped the administrative review would be completed by the end of the month.

However, Jeff Follmer, police union president, says the department has not yet started interviewing the officers.

The 13 officers who took part in the shooting remain on restricted duty.
