BEDFORD, Ohio – Police have charged a man they say was running a housing scam in the city.

Danny Heaggans, 30, of Garfield Heights, was arrested on a charge of theft by deception and police say he could be facing additional charges.

According to police, Heaggans would illegally gain access to vacant, abandoned, or foreclosed homes and then make cosmetic repairs and install locks.

Heaggans would then show the houses to people looking to rent a home.

Heaggans is accused of collecting a security deposit and first month’s rent from a renter.

Police say Heaggans is connected to at least four houses in Bedford and may have also done the same scam in Cuyahoga County,

If anyone rented a house from Heaggans recently they are asked to call Detective Buck Kidd at 440-232-3408.
