A 28-year-old anesthesia nursing student has been indicted on a charge of gross sexual imposition.
James Lewis of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, was indicted by the Cuyahoga County grand jury this week.
Lewis is alleged to have had sexual contact with a female patient at Fairview Hospital in June.
According to the indictment, Lewis is alleged to having sexual contact with the victim while she was “substantially impaired as a result of the influence of a drug or intoxicant administered with her consent for the purpose of any kind of medical or dental examination, treatment, or surgery.”
The hospital released this statement: “We are fully committed to doing everything possible to maintain a safe environment. We immediately acted on the allegations involving an anesthesia nursing student, who was not an employee of Fairview Hospital, and reported this to the Cleveland Police Department and removed him from our facility. We believe in the justice system and have fully supported this investigation.”
Lewis is due to appear in court in the next few weeks to face the felony charge.
